This might be the cutest thing in the world.

If you ever need a new blog design, use them. They work with you one on one to create a design that really reflects you and your brand. I can't brag about them enough. I mean, just look at this design. It's amazing!

The eternal question we bloggers always ask ourselves: How can I get more blog traffic?

My kitten Dolly and my sister's cat Oliver are seriously adorable. They constantly cuddle with each other and give each other baths. It's pretty gross. The amount of PDA that goes on in my house between these two is disgusting.

"Be hungry without being entitled. Nothing is going to get handed to you; you have to go after what you want. Very few editors are going to beg you to write a five-page feature. You have to approach them and say, “I want to do this and I think I’ll do a great job.” Carving your own way is key, but you also need to know the fine line between being persistent and pesky." - Caitlin Hacker

Work it Wednesday: Brave New World

 Every Wednesday is 'Work it Wednesday' - I tell you what I'm working on and I give you links to help you get your work on this week!

Wednesdays are for working it, and this week I've been working on my design skills again. My main project has been helping my sister re-design her blog with all-new header, links and color scheme to help with branding.  It's been a fun project, and something I plan on finishing today.

One of the best links I've come across this week has been How to Become a Designer without going to Design School. Karen X. Cheng lists out important steps like 'Learn how to Draw' and 'Learn Specialties' while offering a list of essential resources for any designer. I've been following her advice the past week, and it's really helped me to advance my own skills and get a clearer picture of what I want out of my future as a designer.

Important: One Simple Habit That'll Make You Great at Conversations

"What matters now is that in this brave new world, we’ve been given the chance to reinvent ourselves. We’ve been given the tools and the access. And once you go past the daring cat videos and Sharkeisha Vines, you’ll start to realize it’s exciting, it’s unreal, and it’s insane."
- The Brave New World For Startups, Musicians, Filmmakers, and Other Artists

Also, in case you missed it, I wrote yesterday on How to Find Your Niche. Check it out!

Work It Wednesday

Every Wednesday I tell you what I'm working on and I give you links to help you get your work on this week!

// currently working on

To fill up my free time, I've been working on my design skills in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.  I've realized that messing around with graphic design is actually really fun for me, and kind of calming.  I've sent out some proposals to people here and there, and I have an appointment tomorrow.  I've been working on logo designs, book cover designs and business card designs (see above).

// get your work on

Tuts+ has been a lifesaver the past few days.  I'm familiar with InDesign and Photoshop, but learning Illustrator has been interesting, to say the least.  If you're a designer, and you're looking to learn something new or practice your skills, check this website out.

The ebook Rebels With a Cause helped me to really stick to what I've been doing for the past few weeks.  Sometimes when I start something new, I find my passion waning when I don't get fast results.  Rebels With a Cause was the reminder I needed to keep on going.

Sarah Von Bargen has her own links and articles that are all must-reads for bloggers and entrepreneurs....and pretty much everyone else, too!
